We are leaving tomorrow to celebrate Christmas at my mother’s in Kansas City. In the frenzy of finding DVD’s and DS games for the long drive I found a journal in one of my bedroom dresser drawers. Somehow it had made its way in there. I usually keep my journals under my bed…weird, I know. Brad must’ve found it slightly peeking out from under the dust ruffle and thrown it into the drawer not really knowing what it was. I also keep books I’m reading there as well. God only knows what’s really under our bed…but I digress.
The journal was titled ‘Gratitude’ and I had dedicated it to my Lord, Jesus. This is the first page that I wrote, dated July 19, 2004:
“To my Jesus,
How my heart has longed to serve you. In my humanity so many times I’ve failed. But, I love you. I need you. I want you. My King, I pray this journal will help me serve you better as I begin to look at life with a grateful heart instead of with eyes of complaint. I humbly ask you to bless your servant with a heart of gratitude and humility, that you would sow into me a servant’s heart. Bless you King Jesus, for you alone are worthy of all praise.
Today I am grateful that the library was still open while on our bike ride. Violet had to go tinkle so we had a potty to go to.
I am grateful that the weather was so nice for our bike ride.
I am grateful for receiving my grandmothers family tree today from her cousin in California.
I am grateful for my superior new bicycle–it’s a joy to ride!
I am grateful for a loving husband and his faithfulness to our family.
Love, Cindy”
Aren’t journals amazing?
I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
I know that this verse is used a lot, but it is so true for the season….
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. –John 3:16
