Happy New Year!
New year, new journal design.
What a year it’s been. Of course, don’t we all say that? I’d like to say that although nothing significant happened, except for getting my braces off, 2009 was an even keel year for me. And I’m happy about that. I got another year of photography under my belt which I’m very pleased with. My children are both healthy without having had any major illness or accidents. My friends are still my friends. My husband is still my husband and completely healthy, as well as myself. I hope to continue in my good fortune throughout 2010. No major resolutions here…just praying to have more of the same, while adding a sprinkle of extraordinary.
One of the many things I’ve ventured to do this new year is Project 365, which is taking a picture a day for each day of the year. Now I mentioned in an earlier post that I had started this last year and made it to April…I do not underestimate the power of this discipline. But try try again, right? And why not? The days will pass anyway. I have decided to do various themes throughout the year posted incrementally within weeks, months or seasons. I will be a little more clear on my themes in the coming days but for now here is a list of the gear I’ll be using. I will try my darndest to give the info on what equipment I used for the image posted, however, I’m only human, I’ll be happy just to get the image up for the day. Here’s my arsenal:
Canon 7D
Canon 40D
Canon PowerShot SD800 IS
Canon 24-70L
Canon 50 1.8
Canon 85 1.8
Lensbaby
Canon Speedlight 430EX II
Cactus Wireless Flash Trigger V4
Various gels and snoot
Mac Powerbook with Webcam
Photoshop CS3
I will post the image as 1:365 or Day One of 365, 2:365 or Day Two of 365 etc…and so on.
So let’s get started shall we?
1:365
We were recently at my mother’s in Missouri over Christmas where a foot of snow fell over the weekend. Heading back to Ohio, I had my camera in my lap thinking if I saw anything interesting I would ask my husband to pull over. As we drove along I saw the stark landscape covered in snow and these power lines against the stark gray sky. It came upon me so quickly that I didn’t even ask him to slow down, I just pointed my camera out the window and clicked the shutter.
Driving past at 50 miles an hour. Canon 40D, 24-70L, natural light, taken around 10 am:
