Cindy Knull bio picture
  • Greetings!

When I was six years old, my mother gave me a diary.  I remember very distinctly that it was red with a little brass lock.  This began my journey into recording the details of my everyday life.  Writing has always been a love of mine and a necessary part of my self expression.  While in school working towards my English degree,  I had the opportunity to visit the John Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.  To my great pleasure, the feature exhibits consisted of many great Masters of Photography. One of whom was the great Andre Kertesz.  I immediately fell in love with his ability to form the perfect snapshot and felt something inside myself completely identify.  It was upon reading a quote by Mr. Kertesz that I went home and promptly changed my major to Photography.  The words were simply, "I write with light."

I'm a street shooter at heart, who people hire when they want honest and intelligent images documenting personal events. I dabble in portraiture. I run half marathons. And write, a lot.

I'm currently working on several personal projects. One of which is my first novel.

31 and 32:365 (Project 365)

Uh oh.  Am I already starting to fall behind on 365?  I missed yesterdays post.  Only because I thought to take Sunday off and try to drum up some photo ideas.

I seem to do well with shooting static objects…those are easy, like the little shed image I have here for Day 32.  But I find people more interesting.  I like activity and life in photography.  Something that tells a story.  I get lazy though.  It’s more work to find the story.  Or to simply think about an ordinary moment as being story.  Such as my image for Day 31, Choices; Which is my daughter shopping for herself with a stash of her own money.  I love my dslr camera, but I really love my little Canon PowerShot SD800 point and shoot.  In my purse, it’s ready for anything.  And I use it a lot.  A lot!  Must do more portraits though.  Oh the pressure!

Image 32 is here and image 31 is beneath it.  The shed image was taken at sunset.

Both taken with my little Canon PowerShot SD800.

The second one is easily my favorite, but from the looks of the first one I can see that the snow has started to melt. Have we turned a corner? I’m with you when you say, “I find people more interesting, in telling a story.” What did your daughter end up buying?

Katie, the snow had melted! I took this Sunday at sunset. BUT, there is new snow this morning (Tuesday). BLECH!!! It’s so cold too. It’s just hanging in the 20′s. I’m looking out the window right now and there is still snow, very small flakes, coming down.

V ended up leaving the toy aisle and over to the game aisle..she got a Sims game for her DS Lite. It figures.

I love the shed image! Very pretty.
From the looks of the other photo V sure looks interested in those Liv dolls. Emma is obsessed with her Sims games…

Erica, this is the image of the shed next to the barn behind the BBQ place where the old Bob Evans used to be. HA HA. You’d never know it’s just sitting there in the middle of all that commerce.
