Grocery Cart Craziness

My three year old is crazy. She is fearless and always into mischief. Her favorite t.v. show right now is Lazytown, with Sporticus being her HERO. She loves to flip and jump and be completely athletic and physical in everything that she does. And here’s the catch, she loves wearing lipstick while doing it!

Today we went shopping. She scouted out this particular grocery cart for some strange reason. And then, we watched in utter dismay as she began doing all sorts of acrobatic maneuvers on the handle. I always carry a camera with me and thought I’d share a little bit of what we as her parents go through….enjoy.

Oh boy, here I go again. I tried this once already but I ended up being unable to complete it. I got as far as April last year. Do I dare attempt another picture a day for 365 days straight? I feel enthusiastic about it right now, but what do you think? Will you do it with me and link back? I have a lot of readers of this blog but commenting isn’t the strong point of most…I’d like to change that. I’d like to hear from you. No, I WANT to hear from you. I’m desperate to hear your opinion and thoughts! So please…even a smiley emoticon is something.

In the mean time while I ponder the idea of Project 365 (beginning Jan 1.), here is a little snapshot I took of my three year old. Brown eyes, like her daddy.

The other night we were decorating our tree. My three year old, as three year olds do, has a penchant for being naked. Immediately upon entering our home from being outside, she will begin to tear away at her clothing and march around the house “free” as we like to call it. As we were emptying our boxes of decorations she reached into one and pulled out a Santa hat, promptly put it on and continued with the task of decorating. Once the tree was complete, she jumped up with a sudden urge to go into the garage. We stood waiting, wondering what she was doing. When she appeared she was carrying an item that last year had brought her great joy at this time. The ornament buster. She seemed to have gone into a trance as she stood solid before our newly decorated Christmas tree…pondering her first move. And quietly, I snapped this picture…but just so you know, she was denied the cheerful exclamation “I WIN” she so exuberantly announced last year after busting several of our ornaments. And her little heart was devastated. But the moment will live on…

A Taste of Thai

A friend of mine is part Thai and went to Thailand last January for the first time. She brought back these cute little dresses and umbrellas for her niece and two daughters. She asked if I would take some pictures to send to her mother. The fall colors were still barely hanging on and so I made good use of what was left.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a spread of my daughter. I’ve been wanting to do one, but time and life keeps getting in the way. She is growing up so fast. Some of my fondest memories as a child were at the age of nine. The age she is now. I’m trying to remember what I needed most at that age, so I can provide for her now. So much to think about right now as she heads into the tween years. I guess I’m not being very eloquent in my speech here. But I love her. She is my world.

The Remnants of Autumn

A photographer friend of mine was coming up from Cincinnati to visit some relatives and asked me if I would be willing to photograph her sister’s children. I was totally flattered and a bit apprehensive with the challenge. It’s not easy photographing for another photographer but I think together we pulled this one off. There is a mingling here of my photographer friends nieces and nephew and her own children. We had a lot of fun and everyone was pretty laid back. All of these children are under the age of seven!!

It’s been so beautiful this week. My eldest daughter has been sick with some kind of bug and I’m really not gonna say the H1N1 word…oops, I just said it. I’m pretty sure that’s not what we were dealing with here but who knows, it’s going around like crazy. With the recent news of a meteor shower due to remnants of Haley’s Comet, I thought I’d get up and check it out this morning. When I awoke at 4am, I noticed my three year old sleeping beside me, was very very warm. Hot, in fact. A temperature check and we are now into the passing of the baton from her older sister. Fever, 101 and that was taken by way of her reluctant armpit. I’m guessing it was a bit higher. Yuck. I hate when my children are sick. Yesterday though, we were outside admiring the warmth of an Indian summer….So I snapped a few. I think I can already see in her eyes, that she was starting to not feel good.

Last Monday I had the privilege of photographing a lovely family of seven plus one tiny little doggie named Rico. It has been so misty and overcast here where we live, but Monday was full sunshine with not a cloud in the sky, and warm. Perfect.
