I took this image of my daughter(s) while they were out playing, I used my 24-70 lens. I can’t believe how different my older one looks here. I’m sure it’s the process I used. But what an illusion she is of her normal self. Her cheeks look rounder and her eyes look older. I can’t stop looking at it.

The Age of Ten

Ten years this child has lived with us. Ten years of sleepless nights. Ten years of worrying…if she will be liked. Ten years of hoping so much. Ten years of planning. Ten years of laughing. Ten years of praying. Ten years of loving something more than I could ever imagine. An entire decade has gone by of living outside of my self…feeling her joy, feeling her pain. And I’m so thankful to God for growing me this way, by giving us this human to give to the world, to give back to Him. What a precious beautiful amazing funny spark of joy who ignites our world. A birthday girl… Ten years + One day old…Happy Birthday love. My girlie girl.

Play Time

I had the good fortune of getting to play with a 135mm lens on a 5D the other day. This lens was a little hard to get to know, so I screwed around with it while my girls played outside. I also had to get used to the way the 5D was awesome. I love my camera and I work it like a dog, but it took some time to figure out some of the controls on the 5D. It didn’t take long though…getting used to the lens, like I said, was the biggest challenge. But I like how the images turned out…

June Theme: NOW {Jordan Wedding Reception}

Weddings are such happy events. I recently attended my cousin in law’s wedding which was themed after the movie Father of The Bride. The family explained that this particular movie was a family favorite and being that Rachel was the eldest daughter it seemed appropriate. The wedding itself was held at an adorable little country church packed to the rafters with friends family and military personnel, as the groom had recently graduated from the prestigious West Point Academy. Of course right up to the last minute the bride’s veil was missing. The scurrying to find it was victorious as the Maid of Honor, Jesse (Rachel’s sister) came running from the trunk of the car, veil flying in the wind behind her. Following the ceremony the reception was held at the beautiful home of the bride. Complete with white tent, dripping crystal chandeliers, basketball court and instead of snow there had been a torrential downpour so the ground was soaking wet, and I mean saturated wet. You’ll notice the hiking up of dresses. But Rachel was so happy and beaming with joy that she was not concerned with the resulting rim of mud and grass stains that decorated the bottom of her amazing dress. When I asked her about it, Christopher, the groom, perked up and said, “It’s okay, she’s only going to wear it once.” The only thing missing was “Franck”.

I was not the wedding photographer, but I did bring my own camera for my personal memories. Congratulations to Rachel and Christopher. The reception…

The theme for the month of June over at NaBloPoMo is NOW. Go ahead and check out the link. It’s a great way to get inspired about blogging or being creative in your particular endeavor.

Thinking of the word ‘Now’ and trying to implement that into my life. Just the other day I was talking with some friends about how sometimes we always say “change is coming” or “it will happen”. We were basing this conversation of the scripture “Hope deferred makes the heart sick” as found in Proverbs 13:12 in the christian Bible. At one point in my life I had been told that I was trapped within my own hope. I am a girl who believes in destiny and fate. I am always dreaming or believing in the possibility. Sometimes this has truly made my heart sick. Because waiting for anything can be so painful, if the waiting lasts too long. In recent years I have chosen to step out of the bondage of hope deferred and start believing in ‘now’. Today is the day. One of my favorite quotes, you’ll find it in my inspirations page link at the top, is from Rocky III. Rocky and Apollo Creed are training for an upcoming fight with Clubber Lang. Rocky’s coach Mickey has died though and he’s drowning in grief…he begins to give up. Apollo begins to scream:

Apollo: He’s hooking. He’s hooking. He’s hooking! Damn, Rock, Come on! What’s the matter with you?

Rocky: Tomorrow. Let’s do it tomorrow.

Apollo: [Screaming] There is no tomorrow! THERE IS NO TOMORROW! THERE IS NO TOMORROW!

Applying this to a grocery list, phone calls, that trip to Spain I want, or a casual moment on the porch with my girls and their dad…THERE IS NO TOMORROW!

Silliness

My husband has been traveling a lot with his job, so while out running errands and basically enjoying the great weather, we stopped for lunch and frozen custard. I decided to get some pictures of my girls doing what they do best, acting silly. I used my little point and shoot that I keep inside my purse and snapped away. These were meant to be sent to my husband to cheer him up while he is away.
