Obviously, for those of us who live anywhere considered east of west, we get the pleasure of fall. When I lived in California, the seasonal changes were very subtle, and the weather was perfect even into the deep winter months. Actually winter in Southern California is more rainy with cooler evenings, but still a beautiful 70 degrees can be had on Christmas day. Since we moved to the midwest nearly ten years ago, we get to see the leaves change, and brilliantly I might add. Colors pop this time of year and family portraits are scheduled like crazy. But as always, the colors peak and then the winds come and the leaves fall from the trees, turning brown and crunchy. Winter. It roars in while naked trees abound across the horizon, the deep freeze begins.

Winter will bring it’s own beauty, but for now I’m enjoying what’s left of the beautiful sugar maples, silver maples, and other beautiful fall foliage still lingering from half naked branches, unswept sidewalks, and busy streets around my small town.
