Hi, it’s me. How’s it going? I’ve been on vacation. Look behind me, isn’t that an amazing sunset? Pretty cool huh. I had a great time in Florida. And I’ve got some stuff to share with you.

I have plenty of images to share with you, I was pretty busy before I left for vacay and wasn’t able to get anything posted. But for now, here is a taste of what’s to come…

Dick and Ruby

Tulsa is my hometown. It is a little big city with a metropolitan flair. It’s a fast growing city due to the affordability and four seasons climate. Oklahoma is a great place to live. One of the unique things about Tulsa is that it has its very own sound, the Tulsa sound. I’ve always been amazed that Tulsa never flourished into a thriving music scene like Austin or a poor man’s Nashville, but nonetheless, Tulsa (as well as Oklahoma) has produced some amazing talent that has created the uniqueness of its very own style. I mean really, J. J. Cale ya’ll! Leon Russell, Elvin Bishop…helped to create the Tulsa sound which is part blues mishmashed with rock and country. It’s very distinguishable, influencing Eric Clapton most notably. We Tulsans even have our own accent called the cowboy accent. If I get too tired or have one drink more than I should, it really comes out. I love my hometown.

In my previous life I worked in Tulsa radio. One of the best people I met in that career is Dick Loftin. I was working my first radio gig at a country station that merged with the legendary KVOO. Dick Loftin was on air right across the hall from me. For a while, I did the 7-midnight slot and when D, as I like to call him, finished his on air show, he would come over and visit me. We’ve known each other since the early nineties.

Dick and his wife, Ruby, married for eight years, asked me to come do portraits of them during my visit home and I was more than happy to oblige, plus I got a great lunch out of it at a local tex mex favorite, Chimi’s.

I will be posting images from my Tulsa shoots within the next couple of days, interspersed with my Project 365. If you have just joined me, my theme for May is Look Up. After leaving my computer behind for my Tulsa trip, I’ve had to post several images to catch up to today’s date on 365…I think this will do it…and I swear I did not do any crazy editing on the Cloud Eyes image. In fact, a slight boost of color and that was it. A complete freak of nature.

Personal Note of Importance

I’ve recently been a victim of a Rippers 0 browser on my professional website. This is a software that downloads and copies entire websites. At this point I’m not sure if my content has been stolen, I am currently investigating what has actually taken place. It appears that my site has not been hacked at this time. The source of origin began here at my photo-journal.

To be on the safe side, I have added a watermark to every image in my portfolio. I’m quite unhappy with this as I feel that it takes away from the professional polished look of my images. But for now I feel I must in order to maintain some sense of security. I will keep you all updated on this issue. Thanks for all your continued support!

Becker Family

I was invited out to the Becker home this past weekend to shoot family portraits. I have a lot to say about the Becker family as they are a testament to the spiritual gift of Faith. I know that when a person struggles through something it is very difficult to see the good in it. An unfortunate twist in our economy left Joe out of work, couple that with the geographic location of where they live and to say that it’s been a struggle is an understatement. Trying to sell their home has been challenging but they’ve managed to find enough work to keep them afloat through all the changes. The Beckers are a family of ten and Kara homeschools all of them. When I see the the decisions they’ve made to do things THEIR way, I stand back in awe. Because their decisions are not based out of fear, but by faith. The faith that although things may be hard and the outcome is uncertain, they believe with their whole hearts that God will come through for them in the end. I think some people are meant to live lives this way to show the rest of us just how amazing God is. The home will finally be sold and they will be free to, as they say, move about the country. What Happened?

I screwed up my layout. I forgot to save the past layout and it’s all confusing but suffice it to say I lost all my settings. This is one I pre-made a year ago. Gonna have to do for now. All my slideshows need to be reconfigured and it’s way to beautiful outside to do it right now. Slowly, it’ll get there. : )

Playing 365 Catch Up

I will not let go that easy, although, this morning I did have a moment where I almost threw in the towel. I’m going to use this post to catch up on all my 365 images. Explanations of each image below…

84:365 — I just discovered this. And it is delightful. I toast an English muffin and slather it with this dark chocolate almond butter and OH YEAH, honey. Trust me.

85:365 — This is Frank. I do not know Frank. But while I was out and about, I asked Frank if he would let me take his picture. And he, obviously, agreed. Frank works at Sbarro Pizza. Thanks, Frank!

91:365 — The first print image I ever bought of a great photographer based out of Nashville, Craig Brabson. He shot these three women conversing on a beach with a vintage 1950′s era Brownie Reflex box camera. It inspires me EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Home Again, Home Again…

I have a TON of work ahead of me. I’m going to clean my filthy house from our dogs that ran amuck while we were away, then I’ll settle in to posting some images of our time in Lincoln. I’m excited and inspired. The day is beautiful with full sunshine and green grass thanks to all the snow we had this winter. I puffy heart Spring. I puffy heart Summer. Here’s to six months of sunshine and weather happiness saturating our souls and invigorating our minds….posting later today…
